<![CDATA[We've Tripled Our Capacity!]]> We've Tripled Our Capacity!

Sunburnt Internet Marketing is happy to announce that we have completed a major upgrade of our network, tripling our service capacity. Our old network served us so well for so long that we postponed this upgrade year after year. We haven't ditched the goodness of that old system though, we just gave it bigger wings.

Our software and hardware upgrades mean a more responsive system with more capacity for you and your customers. This is especially important as Google use website responsiveness and availability as a quality indicator and import factor for ranking search results.

Our customer's sites continue to perform well in Google and we continue to work behind the scenes to make sure our software is optimised in every way possible to get you the best search rankings.

We hope you enjoy the upgraded system, and don't worry, everything looks and works just the same as it always did :)

<![CDATA[Spam Filter Upgraded]]> Spam Filter Upgraded

Dear Valued Customers,

Recently we deployed a new spam filter on our network which adds literally hundreds of new tests on your incoming mail. With well over half of all email on the Internet being spam, we're sure you'll notice the difference in your inbox.

Spam is a problem for you because it create a lot of distraction making hard to find important messages in your inbox. It's a problem for us because it clogs up our network and can spread malicious software mostly designed to send more spam.

That's why we're adamant about stopping it.

Below are some of the statistics on just a handful of the tests that our spam filter runs on your mail. If you have any problems with our filter blocking legitimate email, please let us know the email address being blocked so we can investigate.

Best wishes,

<![CDATA[How To Insert Links To Other Websites]]> How To Insert Links To Other Websites

Links from your pages to other websites are called *external links*. It can be a good idea to include external links in your publications because they signal to search engines who you are associated with. For the same reason you should not add external links to low quality or spammy sites.

Inserting external links is very simple and involves just three steps.

1. Find the page you want to edit and click 'Edit Content'

2. Select the text or image you want to link.

3. Click the Insert Link button.

4. Enter the URL of the website and press OK.

5. Save your changes to see the results.

That's all there is to it!

<![CDATA[How to Align Text and Images]]> How to Align Text and Images

Positioning your text and images just how you want them can be a little challenging. To complicate things, you can expect at least half of your visitors to be using a mobile device with a tiny screen. That's why me make the following recommendation:

A centered image like the one above has the best guarantee of being visible on all devices and looks consistent in all web browsers. We recommend positioning all your images like this.

Sometimes this won't fit the bill though, and there are two other options available to you for positioning text and images: 1) using a table and 2) using the image align properties.

Aligning using a table

You can create an invisible borderless table and use it to align you images and text, with the image in one column and the text in the other. This method is reasonably consistent in all web browsers. Just use the following steps.

1. Click the 'Insert Table' button.

2. Enter the following properties and press OK:

 • border: 0
 • columns: 2
 • rows: 1
 • width: 100%

3. Click in the first table cell and insert your image (or text).

4. Click in the second table cell and insert your image (or text).

5. Save your changes and check the results.

Using the image align attributes.

A slightly faster way which achieves similar result but is less consistent in all web browsers is to set the image align properties to position the image. To do this, use the following steps.

1. Insert the image in a new paragraph.

2. Right click the image and select 'Image Properties'

3. Set the image alignment to 'Left' (or right), add HSpace (horizontal space) or VSpace (vertical space) around the image if desired and press OK.

5. You can now type the text next to the image.

6. Save your changes and check the results.

That's all there is to it!

<![CDATA[How To Create A Custom Banner]]> How To Create A Custom Banner

Your banner the first point for branding your design and making it your own. Our designer takes a simple approach to your banner by letting you combine an image with text and giving you some basic positioning options.

While you can choose one of our stock banner images and lay your company name over the top, we expect most people will want to use their own custom banner which includes their company name, logo and accompanying images. Here is how to customise your design with your own banner.

Your banner is a single image file which you can create using Photoshop or any other graphics program. If you don't have a graphics program you can install The GIMP, which is free software with functionality similar to Photoshop.

Once you have your banner image prepared, all that remains is to attach it to your design. To do this take the following steps:

1. Select the design you want to edit under 'Designer -> All Designs'

2. Open the 'Banner' panel on the right and click 'Custom Banner'.

3. Select your banner image from your computer an click the 'upload' link.

4. Preview the results and tweak the banner as necessary.

5. Don't forget to save your changes when you are happy with them.

That's all there is to it!

<![CDATA[How To Position Your Sidebar]]> How To Position Your Sidebar

Our online designer allows you to setup one, two or no sidebars for your designs. A sidebar is a common design element that allows you to position important information, links, social networking widgets and other tools that you want to appear on every page on your website.

By default, the sidebar on your website will show

 • a small search form
 • an email subscription form
 • a Facebook box (if you have configured your Facebook Page)
 • your latest website updates
 • your Twitter Feed (if you have configured your Twitter ID)

Our designer allows you to add two sidebars and position each of them in one of four locations:

 • left (beside the banner)
 • right (beside the banner)
 • left inset (under the banner)
 • right inset (under the banner)

Note: due to size restrictions, when viewed with a mobile device, the sidebar will always appear BELOW the main content not beside it.

You can also adjust the width of each sidebar as you like.

To position your sidebar(s) use the following steps:

1. Select the design you want to edit under 'Designer -> All Designs'

2. Open the 'Layout' panel on the right and update the sidebar position and width as you desire.

3. Your changes will be instantly visible in the preview area.

5. Save your design to apply your changes.

That's all there is to it!

<![CDATA[[New Feature] Attach Multiple Products To One Page]]> [New Feature] Attach Multiple Products To One Page

Today we released an update which allows you to attach multiple products to your product pages. This is useful if you have a number of related products but you don't want to create a separate page for each product. Some examples could be:

 • products of different sizes
 • boxes of different amounts
 • any other variation of your products

When you have multiple products attached to a page, you will see separate "Buy Now" and "Add to Cart" buttons for each product:

Please note here is NO LONGER a price box on the page editor. Instead you need to use the "edit" links on the attached products. You'll see these when you're logged in:

The step by step process to add a new product is:

 1. Create the product page. Make sure you set the type to 'Product Page'.
 2. Click the 'Attach New Product' link.
 3. Complete the product form.
 4. Press Save

If you have any questions about this new feature, please feel free to contact us.

<![CDATA[July Special: Mobile Website Design]]> July Special: Mobile Website Design

With mobile visitors now accounting for over half of your traffic it is pretty important that they can actually read your website. Unfortunately, most phones show your website in teeny-tiny font unless you build a separate design especially for mobile visitors.

This is how the web version of news.com.au looks on my phone:

<![CDATA[Unscheduled Network Outage [Resolved]]]> Unscheduled Network Outage [Resolved]

Today there was an unscheduled network outage at our data center which caused interruptions to some of our services. The problem was caused by a faulty network component which started dropping connections to our server. It has been resolved and all services are now running normally.

This is the first problem we've had with our network provider in over 5 years, and they worked rapidly to identify and replace the faulty hardware.

In cases of service outage you can still get updates from us by following our Facebook page or checking our twitter feed @GetSunburnt.

We have also procured a new server on a different network. This machine has twice the processing power, four times the memory and more network bandwidth than our main server. We will be moving our services to the new server in the coming weeks.

Sorry for the inconvenience and thanks for your patience.
